| Rice Harvest |
Day 1: The program starts around 4:00 pm. Make your way by Tuk Tuk or bicycle to the village of Ban Vieng Nuea along the main road from Luang Namtha to the Airport (distance about 4 Km). Stay overnight at a private home. While waiting for the dinner, you may walk around the village, meet the people and learn about the traditional Tai Youn architecture. If you like, you can join a Baci-ceremony (special request, price not included), which will be followed by dinner.
After breakfast, you can participate in activities of the family. Depending on the season you can watch or take part: January-May: work in the vegetable garden, sow corn etc. June-August: go to the paddy-fields to plant rice, etc. September-October: work in the vegetable garden. November-December: go to the paddy-field for harvesting rice etc. You can also go fishing with a fishing-net year round.
The tour will finish next day after the lunch with the family in the field. |

Extension: The tour can be extended to 2 nights (ID: LT-HS-04). After joining lunch with the family in the field, you can relax for 2 hours before going fishing with fishing nets; collect vegetables in the garden and search for some young bamboo spouts on the bank of Nam Tha River for dinner.
After returning to the house around 5:00 pm, the family will prepare dinner. You can join and learn how to make it. Almost all of the food is collected from the garden or from the bank of Nam Tha River.
After breakfast together with the family, you will return back to Luang Namtha. (If you have any other plan or wish to go somewhere else, please ask your guide to arrange it). |

| Bring a small backpack which should contain following items: |
- Shoes; a good pair of running shoes are perfect, or even better are the lightweight trekking boots.
- 2 T-shirts (cotton), one short or long pants.
- 2 pair of socks. Sandals, flip-flop (for the evening in village).
- Towel (or sarong), swimming suits, toilet and personal effects.
- Personal prescription drugs, contact lenses, glasses.
- Sun-cream (waterproof), hat, sunglasses. Mosquito repellent.
- 1 long sleeves sweater and pants, or jogging suits.
- Small flashlight, camera and films.

| Homestay: participants must be aware that there are no western-style toilets and washing facilities. Sleeping is on a bamboo floor, dormitory style. Sleeping bags, foam mats and mosquito nets are supplied. |

The Traditional Tai Kalom Style House in Ban Vieng
Ban Vieng Neua (Tai Kalom) is located about 3 km from the town center, close to the airport. The house is built according to the traditional style of the Kalom people (Kalom, also known as Tai Yuan), although some modern toilet facilities have been added. The house can be used by the local villagers for meetings, wedding ceremonies and other events.
It also serves as a tourist attraction, where local and international tour companies are able to show visitors the traditional customs and food of the Lao people. The villagers of Ban Vieng Neua are very proud to keep their traditional customs and welcome visitors to see it. They are able to offer a range of services, ranging from baci ceremonies, dance performances, lunch or dinner and cooking classes.
